Salsa Dura Pa Los Pies

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Don't give up after listening to the title track "Pa' los pies", which sounds like "Alvin and the Chipmunks" clumsily attempting to do salsa... the remaining tracks are much better. Very very much, indeed. This salsa ensemble is from Costa Rica - a small country in Central America with a rich musical culture. Musical director and main songwriter Walter Flores is closely related to another excellent Costa Rican band as producer and song contributor - yes, it's "Éditus". In this context, he worked with Rubén Blades as orchestral director for more than six years. Being aware of this background, it's not surprising that the music on this album is exceptional "salsa dura" with catchy melodies, stirring rhythms, and fat trombone arrangements. Incidentally, the track "Juan Gonzáles" is written by - you guessed it - Rubén Blades. Favorite track: Me Quite Las Vendas.
